Wow it has been a long time since I posted anything here. I do check once in a while when someone posts a comment or so.
I know that there are a lot of people out there who have posted some unkind things to some of my opinions and honestly I’m glad they did because that is what the internet is all about.
Today’s post is something different however. While on vacation with my family in Denmark this year I was fortunate enough to find an actual message in a bottle. It was on the last day of our vacation and before we left we decided that we wanted to take one last walk along the beach. The weather had been stormy for the last two days so we didn’t spend much time there. While walking along with my wife, kids and in-laws I was looking down at all the mess that the sea had spread along the beach. I saw a plastic drink bottle laying in the mess and decided to do the right thing and throw it away. When I picked it up I noticed that there was a paper in the bottle. I was pretty excited about this, as I had always wondered what it was like to find a message in a bottle. I was also prepared to be disappointed because I figured it most likely wasn’t very old and that the person who sent it probably threw it in the water only a couple of days before. How wrong I was.
The official date of the find was 12 September 2008 near Loddenhøj Denmark.

The date on the message shows that it was written about the 3rd of May in 1988. I find it amazing that I found this message 20 years after it was written.
I’m gathering by the style of writing that it was written by a young lady, most likely in her teens. The letter is actually a mishmash of English and German quotations, and since this region is relatively close to Germany and is frequented by German vacationers I would say that the girl was German.
I mostly wanted to publish this online in hopes that if she’s still alive that she would be happy to know that someone found her letter.
